Aldi: The Best Place To Get Cheap, Fresh Produce

Why We Love Aldi

Let me start off by saying….. we are originally from Lower Alabama, but now live in East Tennessee. We did not have the best selection of produce in Lower Alabama unless it was local. Now that we live in Tennessee, we are able to shop at Aldi for produce and we love it!

We love Aldi for its low prices, high quality, and wide selection of products, as well as affordable organic foods. We also appreciate that Aldi is a no-frills grocery store that is quick and easy to shop at. There are no fancy displays or gimmicks at Aldi, which we appreciate.

Our Favorite Aldi Finds

As we mentioned above, Aldi is one of our favorite places to shop for healthy foods. They have great prices and an ever-changing selection of products. We’ve found some really great items at Aldi, and we wanted to share some of our favorites with you.

First up is their cookie butter. This stuff is seriously addicting and it is a splurge. We do not buy it each time, but we definitely love getting it when we are celebrating a birthday or a holiday with family. It’s perfect for spreading on toast, using in baking, or just eating straight out of the jar with a spoon.

We’ve also been really impressed with their coffee. It’s surprisingly good for being so inexpensive and organic. And their produce is always fresh and reasonably priced, as we have mentioned.

Oh and before we forget, don’t miss out on their paper goods, such as toilet paper and paper towels. Every time we go to an Aldi store on a shopping trip or have Instacart deliver our goods, I make sure we add one of each to our grocery haul so we do not run out! No one wants to run out of TP… am I right or am I right? They are good quality and at a great price.

And did we mention their limited time or specialty items? Each week and especially during the holidays Aldi has household decor, pet items, etc. We have found some amazing deals or unexpected items in the past that you never would have even thought of being in a grocery store. Check your weekly ad before you head out the door and go shopping for these special buys.

The Dirty Dozen

When shopping for produce at Aldi or any grocery store always remember The Dirty Dozen. The Dirty Dozen is a list of the twelve most common pesticide-laden fruits and vegetables. Here is the 2020 list:

  • Apples
  • Grapes
  • Peaches
  • Pears
  • Cherries
  • Tomatoes
  • Celery
  • Potatoes
  • Sweet bell peppers
  • Hot peppers
  • Spinach
  • Kale

This list is compiled by the Environmental Working Group, a non-profit organization that aims to protect human health and the environment. The organization looks at data from the USDA Pesticide Data Program to rank fruits and vegetables according to their pesticide content.

The Dirty Dozen list is important because it helps consumers make informed decisions about which fruits and vegetables they should buy organic. While organic produce is more expensive, it is important to remember that you are eating these items, so that is why shopping at Aldi is so important. Aldi makes it more affordable to buy organic. See our YouTube video for more information.

The Benefits of Frozen Produce

Frozen produce is often seen as inferior to fresh produce, but this is not always the case. In fact, frozen produce can sometimes be even better than fresh, as it is picked at peak ripeness and then flash-frozen to preserve nutrients.

There are many benefits to frozen produce, including the fact that it is typically more affordable than fresh and that it has a longer shelf life. Frozen produce is also convenient, as it can be stored in the freezer and then used as needed. And because frozen produce is picked at its peak ripeness, it often has more flavor and nutrients than fresh produce that has been sitting out for a few days.

If you are looking for a convenient, affordable, and nutritious option, frozen produce is a great choice. Never feel guilty if you cannot find all fresh produce. It may just be more beneficial to you and your family.
